The Athame: Traditionally forged with a black handle and a double-edged blade. It is an instrument of the mind and spirit, used only to direct energy, cast circles, and command spirits. It is never used to physically cut anything.
The Boline: Traditionally forged with a white handle. It is an instrument of the physical world. If a spell requires physical alteration—slicing an apple, harvesting a root, carving a candle, or cutting a cord—the Boline is the correct and reverent tool for the job.
