Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) — the “Holy Wood” of the Andes — is one of the most sacred and sought-after ritual woods in the world. Native to the dry tropical forests of Ecuador, Peru, and the wider Pacific coast of South America, Palo Santo has been burned in ceremony by the indigenous peoples of the region for thousands of years: by the Inca in their great solar rites, by curanderos and plant medicine practitioners in healing ceremonies, and by the shamans and spirit workers of the Andean tradition who understood that this wood carries a living intelligence — a spirit that actively participates in the work of clearing, healing, and opening the way. What makes Palo Santo unlike any other cleansing wood is its fragrance — warm, sweet, resinous, and deeply complex, with notes of citrus, pine, and something that can only be described as sacred. It does not smell like smoke. It smells like the forest after rain, like sunlight on warm wood, like the moment before something important happens. A single lit stick fills a room with a fragrance so immediately calming and elevating that the cleansing has already begun before you have taken three steps. Our Palo Santo is premium quality. Each bundle contains 4 hand-selected sticks.

Ways to Use Palo Santo in Your Practice

• ✦Space Cleansing & Purification: The foundational use — light the tip of a Palo Santo stick and allow it to flame for 30–60 seconds, then gently blow out the flame and allow the wood to smolder. Move through your space with intention, allowing the sweet, resinous smoke to clear stagnant, negative, or heavy energy. Work from back to front, from floor to ceiling, paying particular attention to corners, doorways, and windows. The stick will naturally extinguish itself — simply rest it in a fireproof vessel when you are done.
• ✦Aura & Personal Cleansing: Pass the smoldering stick around your body from feet to crown to clear your personal energy field of psychic debris, emotional residue, and the energetic imprint of difficult interactions or environments. Palo Santo’s smoke is gentler and sweeter than white sage — ideal for practitioners who are sensitive to stronger smoke or who prefer a more enveloping, warming cleansing experience.
• ✦Ritual Opening & Sacred Space Creation: Burn Palo Santo at the beginning of any ritual, spell work, or meditation session to signal the transition from ordinary to sacred time, raise the vibration of your space, and invite the presence of benevolent energies, guides, and allies.
• ✦Meditation & Breathwork: The warm, grounding fragrance of Palo Santo is extraordinarily effective for deepening meditation — it quiets the analytical mind, opens the breath, and creates an immediate sense of safety and sacred presence that allows the practitioner to drop into stillness with unusual ease.
• ✦Healing & Restoration: Palo Santo carries a deep healing intelligence — burn during healing rituals, reiki sessions, or any practice intended to support physical, emotional, or energetic recovery. Its smoke is said to reach the places that other cleansing tools cannot, working at the level of the spirit body as well as the energetic field.
• ✦Protection & Blessing: Smudge new objects, ritual tools, crystals, and sacred spaces with Palo Santo smoke to bless and protect them — filling them with the warm, solar energy of the wood and clearing any previous energetic imprints.
• ✦Attracting Positive Energy & Good Fortune: Unlike white sage, which primarily clears and removes, Palo Santo both clears and fills — replacing what it removes with warmth, positivity, and the sweet, solar energy of the living wood. Use when you want not just to cleanse but to actively invite good energy, good fortune, and the presence of the benevolent into your space.
• ✦Gifting: A bundle of 4 premium Palo Santo sticks is one of the most universally beloved ritual gifts — appropriate for practitioners of any tradition, at any level of experience, and for any occasion.
