Basil is one of the most beloved and widely worked herbs in the magical tradition — and for good reason. Across cultures and centuries, from the temples of ancient India where it was considered sacred to Vishnu and Lakshmi, to the folk magic traditions of the Mediterranean where it was placed in the hands of the dead to ensure safe passage, to the hoodoo and rootwork traditions of the American South where it is one of the premier money-drawing herbs, basil has been recognized as a plant of extraordinary power and versatility. It is simultaneously a herb of wealth and a herb of love, of protection and of luck — a rare combination that makes it one of the most useful single herbs a practitioner can keep in their apothecary.

Its energy is warm, bright, and assertive without being aggressive — basil does not merely attract good things, it actively repels what does not belong. It is the herb of the prosperous home, the loving partnership, and the protected threshold. This listing features our organic basil, cut & sifted — sourced for quality, prepared with care, and sized perfectly for spell jars, sachets, incense blends, floor washes, and any working where you want the full aromatic and energetic presence of this extraordinary herb.

Ways to Use Basil in Your Practice

• ✦Money Drawing & Business Success: Basil is one of the most universally employed prosperity herbs across virtually every magical tradition. Place dried basil in your wallet, cash register, or money box to draw and hold financial abundance. Wash your hands with basil-infused water before handling money or conducting business. Add to green mojo bags alongside cinnamon, bay leaf, and pyrite for a complete prosperity working.
• ✦Prosperity Floor Wash: Steep basil in hot water, strain, and add to your floor wash water — wash floors from the back of the home toward the front door to draw money and good fortune in, or from the front door outward to sweep away financial blockages and stagnation.
• ✦Love & Fidelity: Basil’s dual nature as both a fire and a Venus herb makes it a powerful ally for love workings — particularly those seeking faithful, harmonious, long-term partnership. Add to pink mojo bags, place between two pink candles during love workings, or scatter dried basil where a partner will walk to encourage harmony and fidelity.
• ✦Protection & Exorcism: Basil’s assertive, high-vibration energy makes it an effective protective herb — place at thresholds, windowsills, and doorways to repel negative energy, harmful intentions, and unwanted spiritual presences. Burn as incense during space cleansings to actively drive out what does not belong.
• ✦Spell Jars & Sachets: A cornerstone of prosperity and protection workings — combine with cinnamon, orange peel, and bay leaf for a complete money-drawing blend, or with rosemary, black salt, and obsidian for a powerful protection working.
• ✦Candle Magic: Sprinkle cut basil around the base of dressed green or gold candles during money workings, or around pink candles during love workings, to amplify and direct the working’s energy.
• ✦Incense Blending: Burn loose cut basil on a charcoal disc alone or blended with frankincense and cinnamon for a solar prosperity incense, or with lavender and rose for a love and harmony blend.
• ✦Courage & Confidence: Carry basil in a small sachet before difficult conversations, job interviews, or any situation requiring courage, clarity, and the ability to hold your ground with warmth rather than aggression.
• ✦Altar Offerings: Offer basil to Lakshmi, Erzulie, or any deity of wealth and love during ritual or sabbat observances — its warm, sweet fragrance is widely considered pleasing to prosperity and love deities across traditions.
