The Ritual — Three Steps

1. Write It

Name what you are releasing on the parchment. Be specific. The act of naming is the first act of release.

2. Place It

Place the parchment inside the coffin and close the lid, trapping your burden within to give back to the earth.

3. Bury It

Bury the coffin, as you cover it with earth. Walk away without looking back. The working is complete.

Timing: Work this ritual during the waning or dark moon, on a Saturday (ruled by Saturn, the planet of endings and finality), or on Samhain night when the earth’s receptivity is at its most powerful.
Candle: Light a black candle before, and as you write your petition and allow it to burn as you complete the ritual. Black absorbs and neutralizes, ensuring that what you are burying does not return.
Incense: Burn mugwort, wormwood, or frankincense as you write your petition to open the psychic channel and allow what needs to be named to come forward without resistance.
Oil: Anoint the outside of the coffin with breaks all oil, uncrossing oil, or simply olive oil charged with your intention before burying it.
Words: Speak your release aloud as you bury the coffin — the spoken word carries the intention into the air as the buried coffin carries it into the earth, completing the working on multiple planes.
