Thor is known in Norse mythology as the God of thunder, lightning, storms, strength, protection, oak trees, healing, and fertility. Thor's Hammer, with which he makes thunder and protects mankind, is called Mjolnir. This depiction calls on Thor to venerate, protect and hold sacred the home of those who wear it. The runes are from the Elder Futhark and read "Mighty Thor Hallow and Hold this Holy Stead."
